Happy Wednesday everyone!
No WIAW post today…I’ll get to that in a minute.
Over the last few weeks, I’ve been feeling like I need to simplify. I haven’t been managing my time or resources well, so I decided to pose a little challenge to myself for the month of August. My mantra for the whole month is “Necessities Only.”
So what does that mean? Basically that I’m going to buckle down and stop spending money on frivolous crap! 🙂 Seriously though, this month I’m doing my best to 100% adhere to my budget and put as much money in savings as possible. The main culprit?
I looooove going out to eat. And when you think about it, almost all social situations involve spending money. Well, maybe you have more creative friends than I do, but most of the time we end up going out to eat, or going for drinks, or getting coffee…all things that I could do at home, make healthier, and save money doing.
To kick the month off, I’ve been doing a little detox—nothing too crazy, because I would be a beast on a liquids-only diet. My focus is on eating super clean and cutting out processed foods.
That’s what I’ve been following since Sunday. So far it’s been going really well, and my fridge looks like this:
(That’s really really full for me. I tend to eat the same thing every week.)
I’m 4 days in, which means 4 days eating…less than exciting food and 4 days with no Diet Coke. The slim down plan is pretty manageable, but I am anticipating Saturday will be the hardest day. It’s the most restrictive day of the plan, plus I’m planning on going to a festival that will have pulled-pork BBQ—the one thing I cannot resist.
I took my weight and measurements on Sunday before I started, so I’m really interested to see what the results with be when I finish on Sunday morning. I’ll be sure to update you all, plus keep you posted on how my August mantra is working.
Hope you all are having a great day!
