Fourth of July Recap

Hello! I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July (and if you have today off as well, I’m super jealous)! I’m going to go ahead and say that yesterday was one of my favorite 4th of July celebrations of all time. Granted, I don’t usually do much on July 4, so it’s not hard to be ranked at the top for this holiday.

The day kicked off at my parents’ house, where most of my family came over to grill and chill for the afternoon. My dad of course prepared enough food for an army, even though there were only about 15 people there. We also had the most killer spread of desserts, so I loaded up my plate with a little of each.

Strawberry pie (fave dessert of all time), strawberry delight, Spiderman cupcake, peanut butter cup dirt pudding. I cleaned my plate like a champ, then immediately regretted it. 🙂

After lunch, everyone ventured outside since it was so nice—like in the 70s nice. I really can’t believe it is July in southern Indiana. We sat and talked for a couple hours while the kiddos played. Then it was time for me to head home to meet up with friends.

My friends Eric and Meagan graciously offered to host a party at their apartment yesterday, so everyone ventured over there in the late afternoon to hang out outside, chat, and celebrate America.

After a few hours, everyone decided it was time to head to the river for fireworks.

We ended up walking since traffic and parking downtown last night was INSANE. We got to the riverfront right as the fireworks were starting and ended up finding seats on the grass with no problem.

Why are pictures of fireworks always so disappointing? Of course, I also haven’t invested in a real camera, so I can’t complain.

The show was really pretty, but we ended up leaving at the finale to try and beat some of the craziness. When I got home, this is what I found under my bed.

I took this photo and had to put it through like a million filters on Instagram to get it to show up. Poor thing must think we’re under siege.

Aaaaand I pretty much fell into bed after that. The sign of a truly good day. 🙂 Did you guys do anything fun for the 4th? Please share!
