I know I’ve mentioned this A LOT lately, but the last couple weeks have been so crazy and draining. And as a result of that, my workouts have been slacking…leading me into a vicious cycle of being tired from being sedentary, but being too tired to exercise. Since I didn’t have definite plans on Saturday, I made my triumphant return to the gym.
I did a mix of cardio equipment (10 minutes on the elliptical, 25 on the treadmill, 5 on the stairmill—the worst) so my time at the gym would go by quickly. First off, I was pleasantly surprised that while I was super sweaty and running was challenging, I didn’t feel like I wanted to die. Secondly, it made me excited to be active again. So I worked out on Sunday. And Monday. And Tuesday. Hopefully this is a trend. 🙂
Monday I went to the gym on my lunch break to run on the treadmill, and I busted out one of my absolute favorite workouts:
“Master the Treadmill with OK Go.” OK Go is one of my favorite bands, and when I was really starting to get into them last summer, I came across this on iTunes and downloaded it immediately. This is a 30-minutes treadmill workout that incorporates intervals, and 2 of the guys from the band coach you through when to speed up and when to chill out.
Sorry for the blurry iPhone photo, but as you can see, I did a little over 2.5 miles in 30 minutes (including a walking warm up and cool down). Also, I’m not a very fast runner, so I’m sure if you are, you’ll cover a lot more ground.
I believe this is $10 on iTunes, but you get the 30-minute workout plus individual downloads of all the songs they use (they are all OK Go songs), so I think it’s a pretty good deal. And it’s a really fun workout that goes by quickly and leaves you feeling like you accomplished something, which is always a plus in my book. Check it out.
