I know it’s Wednesday, but for the life of me I cannot remember to take photos of meals, so I’m skipping this week’s WIAW post (again) and am opting to talk about books instead.
On Monday night I finished reading Jillian Michaels’ newest book, Slim for Life. I started this book almost two months ago, but even though it wasn’t a quick read (for me), it was well worth it.
This is the first book by Jillian Michaels that I’ve read. I’m a really big fan of her podcast, so I thought I would give this a shot. Overall, I really enjoyed it. The book is divided into eight chapters, each one covering a different way to teach you the tools you need to lose weight and maintain it. Each tip she gives you is assigned a point value, and in chapter eight you tally them up and she gives you advice on how to achieve your goals based on the commitments and changes you’re making.
There is a TON of information in Slim for Life. This is sort of a good and bad thing: I feel like I learned so much and there were so many things I want to put into practice (or at least try to), but also…how am I supposed to remember all this? And I guess the book was designed to be a tool you use over a long period—not something you read once and never pick up again.
Another pro: Jillian covers a wide range of information in this book—there is a lot about losing and maintaining weight, but she also covers beauty products, clothes, household cleaners, money, etc. She also includes a great chapter about motivation, which is something I especially struggle with. So if you have been thinking about picking Slim for Life up, I would really encourage you to. There is a lot of info that you’ve probably heard before, but she does give some great advice on a pretty wide variety of subjects. And if nothings else, it’s a pretty easy and entertaining read (and maybe quick too, if you’re not like me).
